Albania: Appeal Court eases the sentence to Nehat Kulla and his collaborators

TIRANA (3/29/2001) - Nehat Kulla and his collaborator Ismet Ramadani have been eased their condemnation period given on January 18th, this year by Tirana's Court. Appeal Court decided that Nehat Kulla be condemned with 30 years of prison for illegal gun possession while Tirana's court had condemned him with 12 years of prison. Whereas Ismet Ramadani with 3 years of prison. Appeal Court decided pre - detention for illegal gun possession. Appeal Court rejected the Tirana's Court decision. Appeal Prosecutor Zamir Shtyla was not of the same opinion. He demanded eternal sentence for Nehat Kulla for seven accuses. As for Ismet Ramadani, Shylla demanded 8 years according to ATA. Nehat Kulla and Ramadani were arrested i in 1999 in Elbasan. They were captured by the police shooting. The accuses for Nehat Kulla, seven all in all were, murder, armed group creation, kidnapping, maltreatment, illegal gun possession and forgery, while Ramadani was accused of creating armed groups and illegal gun possession. After a long process, first in Elbasan and then in Tirana, he was condemned by the latter with 12 years of imprisoning for illegal gun possession and forgery and Ismet Ramadani with 3 years for illegal gun possession.
