THE HAGUE, spokeswoman Hartman: Karadzic is in RS of Bosnia

(20/3/2002) BANJA LUKA (March 20) - Prosecutors at the war crimes tribunal in The Hague have repeated claims that Bosnian Serb fugitive Ratko Mladic is in Belgrade, shielded by the Yugoslav Army, reported B92. Prosecution spokeswoman Florence Hartmann told Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine that the tribunal had information Mladic is in Belgrade and that former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is in the Republika Srpska. The Yugoslav and Serbian authorities have denied Mladic is in the capital. NATO-led troops in Bosnia recently made two failed attempts to snatch Karadzic. The pair top The Hague's list of most wanted and would face genocide charges if they were ever found. Hartmann urged Belgrade and the Yugoslav army to hand over more suspects, saying the tribunal believes the extradition of Slobodan Milosevic "was not enough." The spokeswoman could not confirm a statement from prosecutor Graham Blewitt that the tribunal expects Serbia to hand over five suspects by March 31, the deadline set by the US if Belgrade is to secure future financial aid.
