Albania: Jaho Salihi admits accusation, chooses Mece to defend him

TIRANA (5/8/2001)- Jaho Salihi (Mulosmani) admitted at today's judiciary session (on Tuesday) the accusation as the main author in the murder of democratic deputy Azem Hajdari, in the evening of September 12 '98. Jaho Salihi uttered 'Yes" to the question of General Prosecutor's office for admitting or not the charge brought against him. Jaho Salihi, arrested in the morning of May 6 in the city of Bajram Curri, was read the form of custody "unlimited imprisonment." Today's session which lasted only 10 minutes, has solved the dilemma for the solicitor who will defend Jaho Salihi following numerous solicitors mainly appointed by Tirana court and their continuous refusal. Salihi required the solicitor Vladimir Mece to defend him. Among the witnesses that were called to testify, only Perparim Zenuni appeared in court today, but he could not testify due to the absence of the solicitor just appointed by the defendant Salihi. While Fatmira Hajdari, the wife of Azem Hajdari, called by the plaintiff with the attribute of witness, has refused to sign the telegram sent by the court to appear in this judiciary process. Democrat deputy Azem Hajdari was killed in the evening of September '98 near DP headquarters in Tirana.
