CROATIA: NATO had chance to snatch Mladic, reports daily

(6/3/2002)RIJEKA (March 6) - NATO troops in Bosnia knew on three occasions in the past two months the exact location of Ratko Mladic, thanks to Croatian intelligence, but each time failed to seize the indicted war crimes suspect, reports a Croatian daily. Citing sources close Croatian intelligence, Rijeka daily Novi List reports that on all three occasions Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb military chief, was in the Republika Srpska. He even attended a funeral, claims the source. A spokesman for the NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) said he could not comment on operations on progress, but conceded it was possible Croatian intelligence services could have handed over such information.
