Bosnia: Head of Parliament: Mladic and Karadzic be arrested

SARAJEVO (19/10/2001)- Head of Bosnia high chamber of the central parliament demanded yesterday the arrestments of some Bosnian Serbs, evaluating that this will help to drop the accusations according to which the war, that is performed at the moment against international terrorism aims only the Muslims. In an open letter to international representatives in Bosnia, Sejfudin Tokic, demanded that Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic be arrested as soon as possible, reported AFP. Both of them are accused particularly for war crimes from the International Penal Tribunal, but are still in liberty. "By arresting them, you will leave without arguments the extremists who claim that the general war against terrorism, is in fact war against Muslims only," wrote Tokic. "Now, that we are witnesses of a final and speedy response against the terrible terrorists' attacks towards US citizens, Bosnian people asks if there exists different standards of convictions for the crimes," added Tokic in his letter sent to Senior representatives of international community in Bosnia, Volfgang Petric, general John Sylvester, SFOR commander in Bosnia and to the senior officials of the Bosnian Serbs Republic. More than 7,000 Bosnian Muslims are considered missed and are suspected to have died after Srebrenica occupation by the Bosnian Serbs forces on July 11, 1995.
