Bosnia: US special units searching for Karadjic and Mladic

(15/1/2002)SARAJEVO (January 15) - US army special units are performing searches to get hold of the two most wanted war criminal, Radovan Karadjic and Ratko Mladic, reported yesterday the daily of Banja Luka, "Nezavisne Novine". Citing unidentified NATO sources and of international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the daily claims that nearly 300 US troops are placed recently in the border zone between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro in the mountains of Zelengora and Romanija, where is believed to be sheltered Karadjic. US units are placed two weeks ago within the framework of a deal with Montenegrin president, Milo Gjukanovic, so Karadjic wil not pass the border in any possible vase. The daily "Nezavisne Novine" reported that the extradition of the former military commander Mladic in the tribunal of United Nations for War Crimes, since it has information that he is hiding somewhere in Belgrade. Belgrade and The Hague are committed to hold talks for his extradition, reported the daily.
