The other political parties think that elections are not on the agenda, while some political analysts call for a technical government until new elections.

  • Pacolli is not part of AAK’s plan for co-governance

    If Ramush Haradinaj decided to join Hashim Thaçi’s coalition, then he does not see Behgjet Pacolli and his party as part of it. AAK deputy leader, Ahmet Isufi, said that there are discussions for a coalition with PDK and Hashim Thaçi and not with Behgjet Pacolli and his party. “The discussion concern coalition with PDK, in order to be able to lead a Government which guarantees increased dynamics,” he said. “Discussions are not being held with the others.” According to AAK deputy leader, his party will offer its plan for governance, and Pacolli or his party are not included.

    Sources told the paper that a majority of parliamentary parties have not opposed the prospect of general elections in Kosovo not taking place before the constitutional timeframe, which means elections will most likely be held in early autumn of 2014.

  • EU strengthens SAA conditions for Kosovo

    Marathon discussions dates were not provided for the start of negotiations to any of Balkan states, including Macedonia and Serbia for the EU accession and Kosovo for the SAA. A timeframe, however, was provided that opens the possibility for negotiations to begin in the first half of the coming year. All formulations were removed from the conclusions for Kosovo, which were requested by EU member states that do not recognize the independence of Kosovo.

  • On dialogue, EU “forgets” Kosovo’s territorial integrity

    After the latest meeting between prime ministers Hashim Thaci and Ivica Dacic, EU member states have more or less agreed on the text of conclusions that will be adopted next week at the meeting of ministers of the General Council, which are then expected to be endorsed by heads of states. The paper claims to have secured a copy of the text of conclusions which are to a large extent dedicated to issues regarding relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and the situation in northern Kosovo.

  • No agreement to implement IBM

    EU diplomatic sources told the newspaper that prime ministers Thaçi and Dacic are making statements on internal consumption regarding the IBM agreement, although “Dacic’s statements are closer to the truth.” The goods at the border points destined for the north will only be registered at the border point while the customs duties will have to be settled at a terminal in Mitrovica. Sources said that the funds collected at the border points in the north will go through the Kosovo Government and allocated for the needs of the local population in northern Kosovo.

  • Status quo in north renders IBM implementation uncertain

    In a front-page report, Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic is conditioning the implementation of the agreement on integrated border management (IBM). EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele said that Serbia should be rewarded for the courage shown in the latest meeting between Thaçi and Dacic in Brussels. On the other hand, Dacic created dilemmas when interpreting that “they agreed to continue the status quo” regarding the IBM agreement, which questions the very achievement of the agreement.

  • Kosovo, Serbia preparing border points

    Heavy machinery was employed over the last few days to construct the border crossing point in Merdare until 10 December, when the implementation of the Integrated Border Management agreement is foreseen to begin. Meanwhile, the building machinery contracted from Serbia have begun opening and leveling the area that leads from Jarinje to Rudnica, where the joint members of Serbian police and customs will be placed.

  • Hoxhaj: Illegal structures, a threat for the region

    Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj said in his speech to the members of the UN Security Council that Kosovo has made extraordinary progress in the three last months and declared 2012 a historic year. Hoxhaj focused on the main developments from July to October and emphasized the end of Kosovo’s supervised independence, the start of establishing contractual relations with European Union and the new stage in bilateral relations with Serbia.

  • Ban: Agreements need to be implemented

    Ahead of the UN Security Council session on Kosovo, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in his regular quarterly report hailed constructive steps in the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade and expressed hope that this will gradually lead to normalization of relations and establishment of long-term peace in the region. Ban also noted that important steps have been made in implementing agreements reached so far in Brussels between the parties but stressed that these efforts should be followed by full implementation of agreements.

  • Rexhepi: When lives are at stake, ROSU will not wait for coordination

    Koha Ditore reports that Kosovo Special Police Unit ROSU on Thursday morning has not intervened but remained in a state of readiness in the vicinity of Kroi i Vitakut in north Mitrovica where Serbs have again forcibly opposed construction of Albanian houses in this neighborhood. As a result, the works have been temporarily suspended.
